Colorado Hiking Adventures
Hikes for All Abilities
Take a break from boating and enjoy a Colorado hiking adventure. AVA has information on hikes for all ability levels. Test your limits and attempt to summit one of Colorado majestic “Fourteeners” or take a casual stroll through an alpine meadow of wildflowers. A family hike is sure to be a memorable experience, and it’s all conveniently accessible from our Granite Outpost.
— Colorado, Oregon, Arizona and CaliforniaMy seven girl friends and I just did the Browns Canyon half day and had a blast! Our guide, Kevin, is amazing. He is a great instructor and helped us have a great day! We were part of a “rescue mission” after a raft flipped. I came away feeling very confident and secure with the level of knowlege and experience each guide demonstrated. I feel we were properly prepared for the risks involved and also instructed on how to have a fun but safe trip. Your office is also very professional and helpful. Everyone was upbeat and ready to help all of us (which is alot!) get suited up and ready to go. We couldn’t have been more excited to all go in the same raft (thanks for making it happen) and we will definintly come back for some more fun! Thanks again! See you soon.
Not ready to tackle a 14er? From the AVA Outpost, you can access The Colorado Trail using a moderate path that takes you by abandoned miners’ cabins. The length of the hike is up to you. AVA is located in the heart of the highest peaks in Colorado. The Sawatch Range has the most “fourteeners” (14,000-foot peaks) in a row in Colorado with fifteen in its range. It also boasts four of the five highest peaks in Colorado. The Sawatch Range’s 14,000-foot peaks offer hikers amazing alpine challenges in the Rocky Mountains. Climbing a fourteener has become popular and the challenge of climbing a fourteener will capture you. Standing on top of a 14,000-foot mountain, looking as far as the eye can see is an accomplishment never to be forgotten. An adventure is waiting for you in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains!
AVA is excited to help outfit you for your journey to the top of the mountain. We can offer lodging, advice, maps and gear for your trip.
For further info and assistance, stop in at The Trailhead in Buena Vista, north of the stoplight on Hwy 24.
