Granite Outpost – Bunkhouse Cabins

Looking for lodging before or after your family rafting trip and family adventures? Want to sleep a group on-site to make an affordable package? We have three genuine log cabin bunkhouses set along a creek that sleep 4 guests each. Each cabin contains 2 bunkbeds (sleeping 4 people each cabin). The cabins also have a private 3/4 bathrooms inside each with shower, sink and toilet. We are located between Buena Vista and Leadville, Colorado on a four-acre parcel home to our Granite Outpost. These one-room, rustic cabins are the perfect place to spend the night before or after your family rafting trip  or group rafting trip during your Colorado summer vacation. Picnic tables, charcoal grills and a large fire pit are all available for you while you enjoy an evening under the bright Colorado stars.

$120 per night

FUN FACT: 61% of the people who rafting Pine Creek in 2010 went with AVA. There are 11 companies that run Pine Creek commercially, but none even come close to our experience!

Granite Outpost – Camping

In addition to family rafting fun we offer 10 walk-in campsites at our Granite Outpost. These sites are not vehicle-accessible, but the trail to the sites is less than 50 yards. These campsites have access to hot showers and toilet facilities. There are picnic tables and designated fire pits. Each site is nestled on a hillside with flat sand foundations for your tent. Firewood is not included.

Walk in campsites are $25 per site (per night) and can generally accommodate two small tents or one large tent (about 4-5 people).

Family Rafting Trips

Bring your Colorado summer vacation up a notch with an Arkansas River rafting trip. Families come in all different variations and we have a trip to fit each one. Brown’s Canyon is a family rafting experience for children as young as 7 years old and adults of any age. This trip includes calm pools that you just float through and roller coaster style rapids for the young at heart!

Interested in stepping it up a notch? The next level up are Class IV and V family rafting trips for teens 15 years and older. These trips are also on the Arkansas River, but they run on the northern sections, Pine Creek and the Numbers, which are very close to our Granite Outpost. These trips are for the more adventurous and are more physically demanding. If you want something more challenging and heart pumping, then a Class IV and V family rafting trip is for you.

Crank up your family rafting vacation by adding a half day rock climb with our experienced instructors teaching you the basics of this exciting sport. And, for the ultimate adventure, show the kids what you’re made of by rappelling down a 75’ drop to the put-in for our Pine Creek family rafting experience! Minimum age 15 on that trip.

After a family rafting trip on the Arkansas River, take advantage of everything else the Arkansas Valley has to offer. While in the area the family can enjoy one of our half day rock climbing trips,  hiking one of Colorado’s many fourteeners, spend

an evening on a sunset Colorado horseback riding venture, or learn Colorado fly fishing .Whether you’re on a family rafting trip or scaling a rock wall, Arkansas Valley Adventures has something for every member of the family.
