Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my! As you marvel at the beautiful Colorado scenery on your Clear Creek rafting trip, keep a lookout for Big Horn Sheep, river otters, deer and other native wildlife. Sorry, no tigers, BUT if you’re lucky, you may glimpse a mountain lion or bear! Check out the historic waterwheel and mine sites too!
Remember to wear fast drying clothes, bring sunscreen and sunglasses (preferably with a strap!) as well as sure footed shoes for the rocky bank and we’ll take care of the rest! Here are some other things you should know about the beginner rafting trip on Clear Creek:
- 1/3-day beginner rafting Class II/III
- Meets at our Idaho Springs/Clear Creek Outpost
- Trip Duration: approx. 1 1/2 hours on the river (can be less time with higher water levels)
- Approximately 7 miles of travel down river
- Multiple departure times per day
- Minimum requirements: 6 years old and 50 lbs.
- Rafts accommodate approx. 7-8 people plus the guide
- Wetsuits, splash jackets, life jackets and helmets are provided
- Great introduction to whitewater rafting

- Typical Clear Creek whitewater rafting season: May-early August
- Splash your way through Clear Creek’s historic mining valley including eleven Class III rapids like Dizzy Lizzy, Mountain Lion, Castle Falls, and the grand finale, Mr. Twister!!

Our Clear Creek Outpost is based in the historic mining town of Idaho Springs. Located just off Interstate 70 and only 40 minutes from Denver and just under an hour from Boulder, Winter Park and Summit County!
