There is always so much going on in the world of water. A few tidbits we think you’ll like:
CELEBRATE: The federal rejection of the proposal for the Flaming Gorge Pipeline – one of the largest, most environmentally impactful water projects to ever be proposed. Environmental groups and citizen-signed petitions were instrumental in helping to kill this project. Read more here and here.
SIGN: The petition from Defend the Colorado to protect the Upper Colorado River from yet another destructive, proposed water diversion project. You input makes a difference!
READ: A Huffington Post article by some recent Colorado College grads who attempted a source-to-sea Colorado River journey.
READ: A National Geographic Blog on cooperation between farmers and conservationists.
WATCH: This cool video using Google Earth on why dams are even worse when you add global warming to the equation.

| AVA News to Brighten Your Springtime |
 |
|
We know, you’re just sitting around your house sulking until the return of whitewater rafting and summer adventure season. Us too.
So we thought we’d pass on a few bits of fun AVA news:
• NEW LOGO!! (Yes, it does deserve two exclamation points.) We are thrilled to roll out our new logo as part of a season packed full with new and exciting endeavors and improvements. Here it is along with our new tagline: We Guide Colorado. What’cha think?

• AVA Zipline Location #2… comin’ up this summer! That’s right, we are building a zipline at our 9-acre Idaho Springs Outpost. Oh mama, it’ll be fun – and a fantastic add-on to our awesome Clear Creek rafting trips. This announcement deserves a whole lot more attention, so stay tuned for more info. Tentative opening mid-June, but we’ll keep you posted.
• Come PAAAAAAARTY with us April 22nd at Arapahoe Basin – it’s the first event to celebrate our 15th season. Woah, that’s only 6 weeks away. Put it on your calendar. We’ll be sending out email with more info as well as posting about it on places like our Facebook page.
• First trips of the year in Granite (Arkansas River) and Idaho Springs (Clear Creek) start May 1, and Royal Gorge trips will likely be available earlier.
• We know we keep leading you on about this, but our new website is going to seriously ROCK. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure you know about it when it launches. The whole world is going to know….(evil laugh…). Oh, sorry, kidding. We’re just really excited. You should be too.
• After a fairly slow start, overall snowpack levels in Colorado have been rebounding. Our Clear Creek drainage is at 94% of normal, Arkansas River basin is at 88% the Upper Colorado is at 80% and the Dolores and Animas are at 98% of normal. Here’s to a snowy March – keeping doing your snow dance.
