Trip Details

Our 3 Day, 2 Night river rafting trip on the famous Colorado River is an experience you'll never forget. Float through beautiful canyons, play in an inflatable kayak, and try your hand at stand-up paddleboarding. In the evening, you'll enjoy beautiful riverside camping with hearty meals and a sky full of stars. This remote overnight river trip also offers a chance to see Colorado wildlife, jump in the refreshing river, play in the sand, and chat by the campfire.

This Upper Colorado rafting trip takes you away from it all. You'll find yourself relaxing as soon as you push off from the shore. With no electronics to distract you or the kids, you'll all reconnect in a way you forgot you could.

On this rafting trip we provide all camping gear except your personal sleeping bag. This includes thick sleeping pads and tents. We also provide everything else you'll need at camp such as chairs, firewood, water, and delicious meals. Our river guides double as private chefs and will whip up some tasty fare while entertaining and taking care of you!

You'll get a chance to ride in a raft, paddle an inflatable kayak or try a stand-up paddleboard. No pressure: if all you want to do is kick back and enjoy the scenery while we row you down the river, you can do that too!

Kids 5 and up can enjoy this overnight Colorado rafting trip, so this makes for a truly unforgettable family river trip. Also great for groups! Just a 2 hour drive from Denver to our Kremmling Outpost where you meet for this trip, it makes for a quick and easy vacation too!

  • 3 days, 2 nights rafting (optional inflatable kayaks and stand up paddleboards)
  • 7 hearty meals cooked for you
  • all rafting gear except shoes
  • sleeping pads and tents

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1-

Meet at AVA’s Kremmling Outpost at 8am to meet your guides and transfer you personal gear/belongings to the provided dry bags and coolers for a 9am departure.  Drive 12 miles / 20 minutes on historic / scenic, trough road to Pumphouse Recreation Area on the Colorado River.  Get a river orientation before departing Pumphouse for a class II float through Little Gore Canyon. You'll stop to eat a deli style lunch with fresh meats, fruits and veggies at one of the picnic sites in the Radium area. After lunch, continue through the Red Gorge and the class III Yarmony “Hoyt” rapid to one of the many campsites located just downstream of the canyon. Set up camp and relax by the river. Fish, hike, play camp games, paddle around, and enjoy a hearty spaghetti and meat ball diner with salad and dessert all prepared by your guides. Hit the sleeping bags or hang around the fireside before bed.

Day 2-

Wake up to fresh coffee, French toast and eggs prepared by your guides and pack up camp for a class II float in the morning to Rancho Del Rio where you will stop at another picnic site for pasta salad with cherry tomatoes and chopped ham. That afternoon you will continue past historic state bridge into the steep sandstone walled canyons of the Yarmony Mountain area for another night of camping. Dinner includes steak, potatoes, caesar salad, and garlic bread.

Day 3-

Pack up camp and enjoy your hot coffee alongside eggs mix up and toast. (scrambled eggs with your choice of meats and veggies added). Continue downstream through class II rapids and past a historic water wheel in the Basalt and Gypsum canyons to Catamount. You then eat lunch (chicken salad sandwiches), take out and drive back through 3 counties to the Kremmling Outpost, arriving around 3pm (depending on groups and water levels). Grab your personal gear and say your goodbyes until next time!

Ahem...where do I go potty? Don't worry, you're not the first to ask this question and you won't be the last! We want you to be comfortable and informed about this sometimes awkward question. There are private pit toilets at various spots along the river trip, such as some of the BLM locations where we stop for lunch. However, at our camp locations there are not permanent toilets. We are required by the BLM to carry a portable toilet. This is the most environmentally conscious and sanitary way to handle human waste. Don't worry,  your guides do this all the time and they're comfortable with the questions like this on river rafting trips.

At camp, a portable toilet will be set up in a private location for your use. This is essentially a rectangular box/container that we attach a toilet seat onto. When we pack up camp in the morning, we seal up the box and take it with us! Really, it's not bad and the toilet always has a great, scenic view!

AVA is a Licensed River Outfitter - Issued by Colorado Parks and Wildlife. All or part of this operation is conducted on Public Lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
