Fall in Colorado is one of the most beautiful things you will ever see. The blooming aspen trees and wildflowers will make any trip unforgettable. But what do you do in the Rockies before ski season? Hike? Of course! Mountain bike? A must; but did you know that through the fall you can get unbelievable views of this amazing state by paddling your way down a river?
If you make it out to Colorado before Labor Day, there are still plenty of rafting options for you to choose from. AVA runs trips on the Arkansas River in Buena Vista and Clear Creek in Idaho Springs all the way through labor day. Through the month of August we also offer Gore Canyon trips in Kremmling. An extreme Class V on the Upper Colorado River, this trip is only for adrenaline seekers that have some serious rafting experience!
For those who come to the Centennial State after Labor Day, have no fear; there is still a rafting trip for you! On a much calmer section than Gore Canyon, AVA runs family-friendly scenic float trips down the Upper Colorado River as long as water conditions lets them, which is usually through late September or October. The whole family will enjoy this relaxing float as you get a unique perspective of Colorado’s beauty!
AVA offers a few other unique ways to see Colorado during the most beautiful time of the year. Out of Buena Vista and Idaho Springs you can see Colorado from the air on one of our zipline tours. There is also a new tour at our Idaho Springs outpost – The Iron Way: Colorado Via Ferrata. On The Iron Way you’ll travel across suspended bridges, cables, rungs and trails as you traverse the cliffs with your experienced guides.
Whenever you visit Colorado, be sure to leave the beaten path and get a new angle of this great state with AVA either through the air, or at the bottom of the valley on a river!
