Happy May Day…What’s Happening?
What’s going on in May in the high-country? May is considered an in-between season; the majority of the area is switching gears from winter to summer, and the weather can be 60 degrees one day and snowing the next. However it’s a nice time of the year to visit, because the crowds are minimal and there are still a lot of fun Colorado activities and events going on!
Mother Nature decided to bring us a lot of spring snow storms and conditions at Arapahoe Basin are still prime! On May 26, they are having their 12th Annual Festival of the Brewpubs. Spend the day sampling beer from a variety of Summit County brewpubs for one low price per mug. Breweries include Pug Ryan’s, Breckenridge Brewery, Dillon Dam Brewery, Backcountry Brewery and more.
On May 31st, the Dillon’s Farmers Market starts for the season. Enjoy homemade, handcrafted and freshly grown products at one of the best farmers markets in the high country. Live entertainment from 10:30 am – 1:00 pm, with music guest Tom Gershwin.
If you are doing a white river rafting trip on the Arkansas River, be sure to head down to Buena Vista for the CKS Paddlefest from May 24 through the 27. The Paddlefest switches to a new retailer each day. This is your chance to grab a kayak at a great discount.
Down in Idaho Springs on May 11 is the Canine on the Creek 5K Run/Walk. Enjoy getting outdoors and run for a good cause. The run benefits the Clear Creek Recreation District and Charlie’s Place Animal Shelter. Go to www.clearcreekrecreation.com to register.
