Easy Meals To Cook On A Fire!

● Berry Campfire Pound Cake

What you will need:

  • 16 oz fresh berries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¾ lb pound cake cut into 1’ cubes
  • 2 rolo candy bars
  • 12” or larger cast iron skillet
  • Bowl to mix in
  • Tin foil

To cook:

In a bowl, mix the berries and sugar until juices start to release. Place cast iron skillet on grate over hot coals. Add butter to skillet and allow to melt. Next add pound cake stir often. Once all sides of the pound cake are toasted remove skillet from heat, add berries on top of the pound cake and sprinkle rolos. Cover skillet with tin foil let sit for 5 mins or until berries are warm and chocolate is melted. Learn more here and enjoy!

What you will need:

  • Heavy duty tin foil
  • Chopped potatoes
  • Chopped onions
  • Corn on the cob cut down to half or into thirds
  • Boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • Spice rub
  • Oil
  • Melted butter

Prepare the tin foil with a little oil, in the center on the foil put onions and potatoes. Brush corn cobs with melted butter and place them next to the potatoes and sprinkle spice rub on everything. Lay chicken on top and sprinkle one more time with spice rub. Next wrap up your foil packs and put them into ziplock bags (incase of leakage). Freeze packs for a day or two before camping.

To cook:

Thaw packs out on/near hot coals, the cook for 20 mins over fire grate

● Dutch Oven Lasagna

This easy and delicious recipe is from Camping Recipes and great for those willing to put in a tad more effort for a lot more yummy dinner!

What you will need:

  • Mozzarella
  • Ricotta
  • Tomato sauce
  • Italian sausage
  • Mushrooms
  • Spinach
  • Lasagna or vegetable noodles
  • Garlic
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Parchment paper
  • Grill and coals

To cook:

In a saucepan put mushroom, Italian sausage, spinach, salt, pepper, garlic and olive oil. Cook on medium heat until meat is browned. Next line the dutch oven with parchment paper and lay down a layer of noodles. Layer ricotta, tomato sauce, mozzarella, then layer on the meat, repeat until you run out.

Put dutch oven into camp fire and surround it with coals. Let cook for 30 minutes or until top layer on noodles is crisp. Plate and enjoy

What you will need:

  • Mason Jar
  • Curry paste
  • Garlic
  • Soy sauce
  • Sesame seed oil
  • Sriracha
  • Veggies
  • Green onion
  • Noodles

Prepare jars with all ingredients before your camping trip.

To cook:

Boil hot water in a pot on a grate over fire add water to jar let sit for a few minutes.

Prepare egg patties by mixing eggs, salt, pepper, onions, and bell peppers in a bowl. Bake eggs on a baking sheet cut them into strips with a pizza cutter wrap in tin foil and freeze.

To cook:

Place egg patty in tin foil on a grate over hot coals to cook. On another piece of tin foil put tortilla shell beans and cheese let sit on grate till melted and warm.
