Whether you’re searching for a weekend in the mountains to view the fall foliage or just an afternoon getaway from the Denver area, AVA Rafting & Zipline has the perfect outdoor activity for you and your family.  Head to AVA’s Idaho Springs outpost just west of Denver for a quick escape to the Rockies, make your way over up to Kremmling for the last of 2018’s whitewater and some incredible fall fly fishing, or set yourself up for the perfect photo-op on a guided hiking adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park.

WHERE: Rocky Mountain National Park | Grand Lake, Colorado

WHY YOU SHOULD GO: You’re not the only one on the hunt for the changing aspen trees. Your hiking guide knows how to escape the crowds in the park and get you to the more secluded and beautiful areas of this popular attraction. If you’ve ever wanted to venture out in the backcountry but haven’t felt comfortable doing so, here’s your chance to take that leap.

Fall Fly Fishing in Colorado

WHERE: Upper Colorado River | Kremmling, Colorado

WHY YOU SHOULD GO: It’s the perfect time to have that father/son or couple excursion out on the river.  Your guide will point you in the right direction to where the trout are hiding and it’s up to you to get them on your line.  Enjoy a relaxing morning on the scenic Upper Colorado River either learn about angling or hone in on your fishing skills this fall.  Choose between a 2 Hour Walk & Wade or 4 Hour Float trip!

Via Ferrata Colorado

WHERE: Mount Evans Via Ferrata | Idaho Springs, Colorado

WHY YOU SHOULD GO: Get this challenging course under your belt before winter sets.  If you’ve been ziplining before, this is the next step up for an adventure.  AVA’s Mount Evans Via Ferrata will have you traversing along the cliffside via iron rungs and includes a rappel and even a 50-foot free fall.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING:

  • Closed toed shoes
  • Sunglasses & sunscreen
  • A water bottle with carabiner to clip to your harness
  • All the other gear you need will be provided by AVA

Upper Colorado River Trips

WHERE: Upper Colorado River | Kremmling, Colorado

WHY YOU SHOULD GO: If you’re still wanting to get some whitewater action in before the year is over, the Colorado River should be your destination.  The younger kids and older generation in your group can all enjoy the incredible views on AVA’s scenic float, or you can send those teenagers out on some inflatable kayaks to pump up the intensity of these Class II rapids.  The best part?  The river is much less crowded in the fall!

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING:

  • Shoes that will stay securely on your feet
  • Sunglasses (don’t forget to buy some Chums at our outpost before your trip!)
  • Sunscreen
  • A swimsuit

Colorado Zipline Tours

WHERE: Cliffside Zipline | Idaho Springs, Colorado

WHY YOU SHOULD GO: Searching for an adventure the whole family can enjoy?  AVA’s 6-line zip course flying high above the historic mining town of Idaho Springs will be perfect!  Venture just 30 minutes west of Denver to catch the best views of the sea of yellow the mountains will shortly transform to.
