First, Get ready for a whirlwind introduction to whitewater just 30 minutes outside of Denver. This trip packs in eleven Class III rapids as your raft tumbles its way through a small scenic gorge on the Creek. After a short break, get ready for AVA’s newest adventure!
The Via Ferrata will take you high above Chicago Creek along the cliffs that look down over Idaho Springs. You will make your way across the cliff side along paths, ladders, rungs, rails, cables and bridges with your experienced guide. This 3-hour excursion includes cliff traversing, rappelling, a 50-foot free fall and ziplining! Minimum age 12.
Combine thrilling class IV rapids with AVA’s Via Ferrata tour! Start you day out high in the canyon before you drop into the first class IV rapid. This continuous, steep, technical section will keep your paddle moving and your heart thumping as you crash through pulsing, Class IV rapids such as Phoenix, Nomad, Fall River, and Outer Limits. After you are shuttled back to the outpost, you will have time for a short lunch break before heading high above the town of Idaho Springs for the Via Ferrata tour.
The Mount Blue Sky Via Ferrata uses a combination of ladders, rungs, rails, cables and bridges to aid in moving across and up a cliff face. This assisted rock climbing guided tour includes traversing, mountaineering, rappelling, ziplining, cable bridges and a 50 foot free fall!

Venture along the country’s most popular stretch of whitewater to start this adventure packed day off. You’ll enjoy a few heart pounding Class III rapids as you float along the scenic National Monument of Browns Canyon over the course of your morning.
After the rafting portion of your day, you’ll indulge in a sizzling chicken fajita lunch to refuel your group before you gear up for the Granite Via Ferrata. This course will have you on the edge of your seats (literally) as you explore the granite cliffside at the base of 14,000+ Collegiate Peaks.
Calling all thrill-seekers, this package is fit perfectly for you. You’ll kick off your day on the exposed cliffside above the Arkansas River Valley. Free fall on a 75-foot jump, ascend granite crags, rappel down a rock face, and even zipline during the Via Ferrata excursion.
You’ll take a much needed lunch break before you throw on a wetsuit and take on the Numbers section of the Arkansas River. The intermediate to advanced Class III and IV rapids will have you cruising through the whitewater and navigating your way through continuous stretches and ledge drops.
Your Via Ferrata + Rafting package is a full-day of physical activity and adventure. We strongly recommend guests bring a water bottle that can be clipped in to their harness for the Via Ferrata. Closed-toe shoes are required for the Via Ferrata. We also recommend guests wear long active pants or capris. For rafting, guests must wear secure shoes (no flip flops or crocs), such as Tevas, Chacos, Keens or tennis shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Guests should also wear quick-dry clothing or a swimsuit for under their wetsuit. Please bring a change of clothes for the Via Ferrata tour.
