Your Horseback Riding Experience
Guides will lead you on horseback across the beautiful Arkansas River Valley, teaching you riding skills and sharing tips. Our horseback riding trips all depart from Mt. Princeton Stables in Nathrop, Colorado, just outside of Buena Vista. Ride through the beautiful Arkansas River Valley, and cross Chalk Creek, splashing up water as you go! Trot on old wagon roads dating back to the 1800s, as well as learn about Colorado and the area’s mining and gold rush history. Look up and around to experience the mighty Collegiate Peaks and take in views of several local 14ers. All children will be able to ride their own horse, and all horseback riding equipment will be provided.
Our Adventure Tips
Close-toed shoes (sneakers or boots) are required, and we recommend wearing long pants while riding. We also suggest wearing sunscreen, a hat, and bug spray to mitigate the bright sun and stay comfortable. You may also carry a backpack with any water, snacks, and a camera to document your experience! Horseback riding is a great activity to get the whole family outside to enjoy the incredible scenery in Colorado and learn more about the Wild West. Kids as young as 5 years old can participate in Colorado horseback riding tours.
