Raft + Bike
How a Package Works
-
First Activity
Your day begins on the river. Guided by AVA’s experienced team, you’ll paddle through scenic stretches of whitewater, from gentle family floats to spirited Class III–IV rapids, taking in canyon walls, mountain views, wildlife, and the rush of the current. All gear, safety briefings, and guides are included.
-
Meal
Between adventures, take a well-earned break. Depending on your specific trip, you’ll either pack a lunch, grab a bite in town, or take advantage of an express option that heads straight into the next activity. Your guide will keep you on schedule and in the know.
-
Second Activity
Once the river is behind you, it’s time to explore on two wheels. Choose from a range of e-bikes, whether you want to cruise scenic river roads with a cool evening breeze, tackle a trail loop, or pedal out toward red-rock vistas or mountain peaks for golden-hour views. Your e-bike rental includes a full-suspension or comfort-cruiser option to match your pace.
*The order of activities may vary depending on your trip. Please check your booking for exact details.*
Explore Raft + Bike Adventures
You want to make the most of your time in adventure country, and choosing between the river and the trail shouldn't be a decision you have to make. A Raft + Bike package gives you both: the cool rush of whitewater and the freedom of two wheels, all in a single day. Whether you're chasing red-rock scenery in Moab or mountain views along the Arkansas River in Buena Vista, these packages are built for people who show up ready to use every hour of daylight. The river gives you perspective from the water; the bike gives you the ground beneath you. Together, they cover the full landscape of what makes each of these destinations worth exploring. What to know about a Raft + Bike Adventure
Best of Both Rafting and Biking
Why settle for one adventure when the terrain offers both? A Raft + Bike package lets you experience the same landscape from two completely different vantage points: first from the surface of the river, cutting through canyon corridors and mountain valleys you can only access by water, then by trail or road, rolling past red rock formations, river roads, or alpine scenery at your own pace. The contrast between the two is part of what makes the day so memorable — the guided intensity of the rapids followed by the free-range ease of a self-directed ride.
Options for Everyone
Raft + Bike packages are designed to work for a wide range of ages, experience levels, and group types. Rafting options span from calm, family-friendly floats to more spirited Class III–IV stretches for groups looking for a bigger challenge. On the bike side, e-assist technology means riders of all fitness levels can cover more ground without exhaustion, whether it's a first-time rider exploring a scenic river road or an experienced cyclist pushing into the backcountry. The package scales to your group rather than forcing your group to scale to the package.
More Bang for your Buck
Booking a combined package is more affordable than purchasing two separate trips at full price, and it saves you the logistics of coordinating two independent bookings across different operators. With AVA's Raft + Bike packages, everything is handled in one place: one reservation, one set of confirmation details, and one team managing your day from start to finish. You'll spend less time planning and more time actually out there doing the things you came for.
A Full Day of Adventure
There's something deeply satisfying about a day built around two distinct adventures back to back. A Raft + Bike package is engineered to fill a full day without filler — the river in one half, two wheels in the other. The timing is intentional: rafting when the water and air are at their best, biking as the day opens up into golden afternoon light. You leave having used every part of the day, and having seen the same landscape twice.
Testimonials
We did the Beat the Heat package on our family trip to Moab and it was the perfect way to spend a full day. The morning rafting through Fisher Towers was stunning. Our guide pointed out bighorn sheep on the canyon walls and the kids were absolutely thrilled by the rapids. Then the e-bikes in the evening were so much fun; we rode out toward Arches as the sun was going down and the light on the red rocks was unreal. Can't recommend this enough for families.

We booked the new Buena Vista raft and bike package and it did not disappoint. Browns Canyon in the morning was the perfect mix of scenic and splashy, and then switching to the e-bikes in the afternoon to cruise the river road with the Collegiate Peaks in the background was such a great way to close out the day. Loved that it was all one easy booking.

FAQs
Why book a Raft + Bike package instead of two separate trips?
A combined package gives you the convenience of one booking, coordinated timing, and a discounted rate compared to booking both activities individually. You'll also have the same team managing your full day, so there's no confusion about where to show up or when. It's the most efficient and affordable way to experience both the river and the trail in a single trip.
Do I need prior rafting or biking experience?
None at all. The rafting portion is led by experienced guides who will walk you through everything before you hit the water, and the routes are selected to match your group's age range and comfort level. The e-bikes are intuitive to ride, and the electric assist means even casual riders can cover meaningful ground without overexerting. If anyone in your group has concerns, mention it when booking and we'll make sure you're matched with the right options.
What type of e-bikes are available?
It depends on the destination. In Moab, choose between the Full Suspension Adventure E-Bike, built for trail riding, and the Endurance E-Bike Copperhead, designed for longer, road-friendly rides toward Arches National Park. In Buena Vista, choose between the Full Suspension MTB, a Haibike ALLMTN 3 built for demanding trails and steep climbs, and the Townie, a comfort cruiser suited to scenic river roads and easy sightseeing. Your guide can help you choose the right fit when you arrive for your bike session.
What should I wear and bring for a full Raft + Bike day?
For rafting, wear quick-dry clothing and water shoes or sneakers you don't mind getting wet — these should stay securely on your feet. Apply sunscreen before you go and bring sunglasses with a strap if you wear them. For biking, you'll want closed-toe shoes and clothing that won't catch in the chain. We recommend bringing a light layer for cooler riding conditions. Don't forget water, snacks, and sun protection for both halves of the day.
Can I choose which activity comes first?
The order of activities is set by the specific trip itinerary and is determined by factors like launch times, guide availability, and logistical flow. You'll see the schedule in your booking details. Our Moab package, for example, is built around an early morning raft trip followed by an evening e-bike ride to beat the summer heat, while our Buena Vista package runs the river in the morning and the bike in the afternoon. This timing isn't arbitrary — it's been dialed in to give you the best version of both activities for each location.
Is the Raft + Bike package good for families with young children?
It depends on the destination and trip. Our Moab package welcomes guests as young as 2 years old, making it one of the most family-friendly options in our lineup. Our Buena Vista package pairs Browns Canyon, a family-friendly Class II–III run, or the Numbers, a faster-paced Class III–IV stretch, with either bike — so families can choose the combination that matches their group. Check the specific trip page for current age minimums.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We monitor conditions closely and will contact you in advance if a trip needs to be modified or rescheduled due to weather or river levels. Light rain rarely stops a rafting trip — you're already getting wet. For severe weather or unsafe conditions, your trip coordinator will work with you on alternatives or rescheduling. We recommend adding the optional cancellation protection at booking for full peace of mind.
