Keeping Our Guests & Guides Healthy & Safe

At AVA Rafting & Zipline, your health and safety is a top priority. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, we are taking extra precautions to do our part to prevent further spread of the virus and guarantee the health of our guests and staff.

Here are a few of the changes we will be making to ensure the health of our guests and guides:

Check-In Procedures

  • Waivers – All waivers will need to be filled out online by each participant before arriving to the outpost to eliminate contact. We will not be accepting paper waivers.
  • Contactless Check-in – We will be enforcing occupancy limits inside our buildings. Therefore, when the weather permits, we will be checking in groups outside. Additionally, we will be encouraging groups to practice safe social distancing from other people once they arrive at our locations. We will be actively working to decrease the number of people you will need to interact with during your time at our outpost, so your trip guide will be in charge of checking your group in for your adventure and providing everyone in your group with the necessary gear.
  • Outpost Cleaning Policy – All restrooms, touch screens, changing rooms, handles and high contact areas will be cleaned and sanitized after each tour rotates through.
  • Safety Talks – Safety talks are a very important part of the outdoor adventure process with AVA, however, the typical “huddle” will be discouraged. We will create safe spacing by group for our pre-trip safety talks. We will also be prioritizing prep for our trips at our outpost location to decrease the time we spend at the river put-in for rafting trips.
  • Limiting People Inside – Signage at entry doors will display procedures to explain the movement of guests through our facilities. We will continue to offer souvenirs and retail for sale at our locations, however, we will be actively limiting the number of people in the shop at a time. If you have arrived with a large (10+) group, your group will need to visit the shop in shifts. Hand sanitizer will be available in the office, retail areas and in restrooms. Additionally, we will operate a one-way flow indoors – there will be a specific entrance and exit door for our locations.
  • Cashless – In an effort to decrease contact across our staff and guests, we ask that any transactions that need to happen at our outpost, for example, photos and souvenirs, be from a credit or debit card.
  • Tipping Your Guide – We will also be encouraging guests to use platforms such as Venmo to tip their guides.
  • Screening – We will be reaching out to guests 24 hours before their trip to have them acknowledge that they are not and have not experienced coronavirus symptoms in the last 14 days, including cough, headache, and fever.
  • Staff Screening – We will be screening our guide and guest service staff daily for symptoms.

Trip Procedures

  • Rafting Trips

  • AVA Health and Safety

    • Gear – All rafting equipment will be cleaned and disinfected after every trip. This includes life jackets, wetsuits, helmets, splash jackets, paddles and boats. Paddles will be placed in a bleach bucket as soon as they return to the outpost, where they will stay until they are ready for use. Staff will wipe down clean paddles to provide to new guests. PFD’s and wetsuits will also face a deeper sanitization process. Helmet interiors will be cleaned using an alcohol-based spray after each use.
    • Transportation – We will adhere to guidelines used by the RTD public transportation operation in regards to vehicles. Buses will be loaded back to front and only every other row will be used to keep capacity at a max of 50%. We will also provide an option for private transportation for a surcharge. Hand sanitizer will be offered upon entry to the vehicle. Employees will wear face coverings and guests will be encouraged to do the same. Windows will remain open during transport. All surfaces including seats, windows and railings will be cleaned and disinfected after each use.
    • Group Sizes – Trip sizes will be reduced to maintain proper social distancing. Additionally, we will be providing options for groups to guarantee a private boat for a surcharge.
  • Aerial Adventures

    • Gear – All areial adventure equipment will be cleaned and disinfected after every trip. This includes helmets, gloves, and harnesses. We will also be providing guests with glove liners in the form of disposable gloves. Please be sure to inform us of any latex allergies so we ensure we have an alternative glove available for your trip. Helmet interiors will be cleaned using an alcohol-based spray after each use.
    • Transportation – We will adhere to guidelines used by the RTD public transportation operation in regards to vehicles. Our aerial adventure tours include transportation to the start of the course in our open-air zipline truck. Hand sanitizer will be offered upon entry to the vehicle. Employees will wear face coverings and guests will be encouraged to do the same. Windows will remain open during transport. All surfaces including seats, windows and railings will be cleaned and disinfected after each use.
    • Group Sizes – Trip sizes will be reduced to maintain proper social distancing. If the max group size is 10, the maximum number of guests on a trip will be capped at 8 with 2 guides to keep to a max of 10 people together. Private trips will also be available by request for a surcharge.
  • Other

  • AVA Health and Safety

    • Off-Roading Rental Gear – All UTV equipment will be cleaned and disinfected after every trip. This includes seats and steering wheels of the UTVs, door handles, and helmets. UTVs will be completely sanitized between use. Helmet interiors will be cleaned using an alcohol-based spray after each use.
    • Fly Fishing Gear –All fly fishing equipment will be cleaned and disinfected after every trip. This includes rods, reels, boats, and more.
    • Fly Fishing Transportation – Group sizes are already limited on our fly fishing trips, so the number of people being transported at a time will also be limited. Hand sanitizer will be offered upon entry to the vehicle. Employees will wear face coverings and guests will be encouraged to do the same.
    • Group Sizes – Group sizes for these trips are already capped at 4, so we do not have to limit them beyond that. Our fly fishing trips typically have 2 guests and our off-roading rentals hold up to 4 people. You will always be with the party you booked with.

Employees

  • Required facial coverings will be provided to all employees.
  • Daily symptom screening including temperature readings and questioning.
  • Assign work stations that are 6’ apart for indoor employees.
  • Frequent hand washing throughout the day. Access to hand sanitizer.
  • Employees will be updated daily of any new protocols as conditions change.
