Raft + Scenic Tour Adventures
How a Package Works
A. First Activity
Your day begins with a guided tour of one of the West’s most iconic landscapes. Traveling in a comfortable, air-conditioned van with a knowledgeable guide, you’ll explore national park formations, canyon viewpoints, and geological wonders you simply can’t reach on foot in a single morning. The experience is customizable so you can choose between short scenic walks or longer hikes to the landmarks that matter most to your group.
Tours typically depart in the morning to make the most of cooler temperatures and the best light.
View PackagesB. Meal
After your morning tour, you’ll have time to grab lunch and recharge before the second half of your adventure. Head into Moab for a meal at one of the town’s local restaurants, or pack your own to enjoy at a scenic spot. Your guide will keep you on schedule and let you know where to regroup for your afternoon river departure.
Check your trip description for specific lunch logistics and timing details.
View PackagesC. Second Activity
As the afternoon heat softens and the canyon light turns golden, you’ll gear up for your rafting adventure on the Colorado River. Guided by AVA’s experienced crew, your group will paddle through scenic stretches of whitewater, taking in red rock walls, spotting desert wildlife, and experiencing the same landscape you toured earlier from a completely new vantage point: river level. There’s nothing else quite like it.
The order of activities may vary by trip. Check your booking for exact details.
View PackagesExplore Raft + Scenic Tour Adventures
Moab is one of those rare places where every direction you look, something demands your full attention — and the question has never been whether there’s enough to see, but how to see all of it without leaving half of it behind. A Raft + Scenic Tour package solves that. You spend the morning at elevation, moving through geological formations that took millions of years to carve, with a guide who knows every arch, every overlook, and every story the rock has to tell. Then you drop to the river, where the same canyons that framed your morning now rise on either side as the current carries you downstream. The two experiences aren’t just complementary, they’re each other’s best context. The rim gives the river meaning. The river gives the rim perspective. Together they make a day that stays with you long after the drive home.

What to know about a Raft + Scenic Tour Adventure
Best of Both Rafting and Scenic Tour
Most people visit Moab and have to choose: the park or the river. A Raft + Scenic Tour package removes that tradeoff entirely. The tour portion gives you access to places the river can’t, such as remote arches, desert plateaus, and canyon viewpoints reachable only by road and trail. The rafting portion puts you inside the landscape in a way no vehicle ever could. You’re not choosing between two experiences; you’re layering them, and the result is a far richer understanding of what makes this corner of Utah so extraordinary.
Options for Everyone
The Raft + Scenic Tour package is one of the most broadly accessible adventures in the AVA lineup. The tour is fully customizable. Your guide will tailor hike lengths and stops to the ages and mobility levels in your group, whether that means a quick walk to a sweeping overlook or a longer trail to a major landmark. The river float is a Class II–III stretch that’s thrilling but manageable, with a pace that lets you actually absorb the scenery rather than just surviving it. Families, older travelers, and first-timers all find their footing here.
More Bang for your Buck
A private guided national park tour combined with a fully guided river float would cost significantly more if booked through separate operators on separate days. Bundled as a package through AVA, you get both for less along with the organizational ease of one booking, one team, and one seamless day. The private tour element in particular represents exceptional value: a knowledgeable guide dedicated to your group, a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle, and a fully flexible itinerary shaped around what you actually want to see.
A Full Day of Adventure
The Sunrise to Sunset structure isn’t marketing. It’s the actual shape of the day. You’re moving with the light: catching the long morning shadows across the sandstone formations in the park, then watching the canyon walls go amber and violet as you float the river in the evening. Few itineraries in adventure travel are this naturally timed. The result is a day that doesn’t have a slow stretch with each hour feeling like it belongs exactly where it is, and by the time you’re back on shore, you’ve experienced Moab the way it deserves to be experienced: completely.

FAQs
The tour is exclusive to your group — you won’t be sharing the van or guide with other parties. That means your itinerary can flex around your interests, your guide can answer your specific questions, and the pace is entirely yours to set. This is what distinguishes the Arches Explorer Package from a standard group bus tour and is reflected in the package pricing.
Not at all. The tour is designed to work for a wide range of fitness levels. Your guide will ask about your group before and during the tour and will tailor the stops accordingly. Options range from a 0.5-mile walk to Double Arch all the way to a 3-mile round-trip hike to Delicate Arch — you choose what fits. Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and bring sunscreen, water, and a snack.
Yes. All rafting guests wear personal flotation devices (PFDs) and receive a thorough safety briefing before launching. The Fisher Towers stretch combines stretches of calm, scenic floating with occasional Class II–III rapids — it’s exciting but far from overwhelming. AVA guides are trained in swiftwater safety and will walk nervous participants through everything they need to know. Non-swimmers are welcome with proper PFDs provided.
The full package runs approximately 12 hours. The scenic tour typically departs in the morning to take advantage of cooler temperatures and better light in the park. The river float is scheduled for the afternoon or evening, timed to catch the golden hour on the Colorado. Exact departure times will be confirmed in your booking details.
For the tour: light-colored, breathable clothing (dark clothing retains heat), comfortable closed-toe walking shoes, a wide-brim hat, sunscreen, a camera, and water. For the rafting portion: water shoes or sneakers you don’t mind getting wet that will stay securely on your feet, quick-dry clothing, and sunscreen. Large water containers are provided during the tour. It’s worth having a dry bag or change of clothes for after the river.
Absolutely. The Raft + Scenic Tour package works exceptionally well for family reunions, corporate retreats, milestone celebrations, and other group outings where you need a full-day itinerary that serves a wide range of participants. Reach out to AVA’s group team directly for custom pricing and logistics when booking for larger parties.
The featured package showcases Arches National Park, but Moab’s surroundings offer a wealth of scenic tour options — including Canyonlands National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, and other red rock destinations. Contact AVA if you’d like to customize your tour destination or combine multiple stops. The private format makes it easy to tailor the experience to exactly what your group wants to see.
AVA monitors both weather and river conditions closely and will contact you in advance of any changes. Arches National Park can occasionally implement temporary entry reservations or timed-entry requirements — your guide will account for this. For river conditions, safety always comes first, and your trip coordinator will work with you on alternatives or rescheduling if needed. We recommend adding optional cancellation protection at the time of booking.
