Here in Colorado’s Rockies when the snow begins to melt and colors start to bloom across the mountains is when AVA Rafting & Zipline comes back to life for the year.  Other than the sought-out bluebird spring skiing days and some late season powder runs, there are plenty of activities to enjoy before summer takes over the mountains.  Near the foothills in Colorado, spring arrives much faster with the lower elevation.  Our Idaho Springs outpost starts running our Cliffside Zipline and Via Ferrata trips at the beginning of March each year.  With this outpost just 30 minutes west of downtown Denver and 45 minutes east of Summit County, it makes for a great mountain getaway from the city and warm outdoor destination from the Continental Divide.

Spring Ziplining in Colorado

Ziplining in the spring is a fantastic way to spend the afternoon!  The Cliffside Zipline in Idaho Springs starts up on March 3nd this year.  If you’re headed to Colorado for spring break this year, this is a great excursion for you and your family to see the mountains on a new level.  If you’re not a fan of skiing or don’t want to spend a ton of money for the slopes every day on your vacation, ziplining is a great alternative for some fun in the high country.  Our Cliffside Zipline welcomes adventurers as young as 6 years old, so bring the whole family!

For those of you that would want to try something more extreme, you should look into AVA’s Iron Way: Colorado Via Ferrata.  The Via Ferrata is a combination of ladders, rungs, carved steps, and bridges to assist you in traversing along the cliffside.  Your experienced guide will help you with this introduction to mountaineering, otherwise known as “ziplining on steroids”.  Each adventurer will have two carabiners that are attached to a bungee-style lanyard on their harness, keeping you clipped in to the cable at all times.  Get your adrenaline pumping 300 feet above the ground on the rock face, try the 50 foot free fall, and conclude your trip by ziplining over Chicago Creek back the AVA’s outpost.

Minimum Age: 12 years old
Maximum Weight: 250 pounds
