When the smell of hops and barley hit the air and sounds of banjo music trails off into the wind, you know Keystone's Annual Bluegrass & Beer Fest is right around the corner. Keystones Bluegrass and Beer Fest has been a staple for the summer season in Keystone for twenty years now and this anniversary should be one for the books. This year’s event will be taking place on August 6th and 7th at the Keystone River Run with unlimited tasting tickets costing $40 for a one day ticket ($45 at the gate), and $75 for a weekend ticket ($80 at the gate).
The festival features over the thirty different breweries all offering some of their finest specialty suds. Gates open each day at 12 noon and end right around 5 pm offering an excellent afternoon activity for those try to enjoy a cold beer and live music. Each day will offer eight different live bands at three different stage locations spread out around the festival. Beyond the brew and bands there are also other options for families with smaller kids, while dad is out roaming the beer garden the kids can check out KidsZone at Ina's Bridge next the gondola. Headliners for the event include Tim O'Brien, Peter Rowan Band, Mandolin Orange and Larry Keel Experience.
For those who have had enough to drink and ears are still ringing from all the great live music after day one there are several other activities to get away and enjoy the quiet outdoors. The Keystone Ranch Golf Course as well as the River Course at Keystone offers a great way to get outside and enjoy the fresh air as well as play some championship level golf rounds.
