OVERVIEW

Timber Lake Trail passes through forests and meadows to reach the open area at Timber Lake. Timber Lake is located 4.8 miles from the Timber Creek Trailhead on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. It shares a large, level basin with two adjacent ponds beneath Mt Ida. A well-cut trail leads through diverse forests and luxuriant meadows where moose and elk sightings are common. Visitors will enjoy excellent fishing and room to explore this idyllic alpine lake setting. This will continue to Long Meadows trail concluding at the Onahu Creek trailhead.

For your 24 Hours in the Rockies Hiking tour, AVA Rafting & Zipline will provide everything you need from camping equipment to meals during your trip. Be sure to review all of the gear lists and suggested things to bring so you aren’t buying a plethora of items last minute before you begin your Hiking tour. If you have any questions about your trip, feel free to call our adventure specialists prior to your excursion so you’re all set to go.

  • Lightweight hiking boots or a sturdy pair of hiking shoes

ITINERARY

DAY 1

  • Meet at the Grand Lake Outpost at 10:00am
  • Gear up & meet your guide
  • Load up, and hit the Timber Lake Trail!
  • Set up camp near Timber Lake
  • Free time: hike, fish, read or just relax at the camp
  • Enjoy a lakeside grill out dinner made by your guides
  • Catch some ZZZs in your tent or under the stars

DAY 2

  • Wake up to a delicious breakfast burrito and hot coffee prepared by your guides
  • Pack up & launch for day 2
  • We’ll hike the Long Meadow Trail into the Onahu Trail
  • Arrive at Onahu Creek. We’ll then have a short drive to our Outpost.
